Before You Update Sony Xperia Z1 Compact To Lollipop
- Make sure your Xperia Z1 Compact is fully charged (60-70% minimum).
- Your device must be rooted. Click Here to root your device.
- Make sure TWRP Custom Recovery is installed in your device. Click Here to flash Custom Recovery in your device.
- A computer with Fastboot installed along with ADB drivers.
- Backup your apps and other data (You have to wipe your device during the flashing process).

How To Update Xperia Z1 Compact:
- Follow all the steps given above first for safe update.

- Boot your device into the Fastboot mode to flash the kernel. To do so, power off the phone. Then hold the volume up button and plug USB into your PC to boot into fastboot. The blue led on your phone will glow signifying it has successfully booted into fastboot mode.
- On your PC extract the downloaded CM zip. Inside you’ll find the boot.img file.
- From fastboot, push the file to your device by executing the following code
fastboot flash boot boot.img
- Once that part is complete, we will now have to reboot fastboot using this command
fastboot reboot
- Now boot your device into recovery mode.Power off your device. The while you power it on, while booting led will be violet for 3 seconds, during this period press volume up.
- Backup your current ROM from your custom recovery.
- Do a complete wipe, data and cache.(includes Dalvik Cache).
- Navigate to your SD Card and select the ROM zip file. Flash the ROM.
- After flashing Custom ROM zip file, navigate to GAPPs in your SD card and flash it too.
- Now reboot your device (First boot may take few minutes).
- Root : From CM 12 root permissions can be enable by going into settings>developer settings.
